Consultation FAQ'S
Do I Need A GP Referral?
Yes. For you to obtain a rebate from Medicare for a portion of the consultation fees, you will need a referral. If you proceed to needing surgery, we will need this referral for your health fund to cover hospitalisation. It’s advisable to first discuss your condition with your GP before scheduling an appointment. They can ensure you’ve had necessary diagnostic imaging (e.g. x-ray, CT scan, MRI, ultrasound) done beforehand.
What Happens At My First Appointment?
The surgeon will review your referral letter and all your imaging, take a thorough medical history from you, conduct a physical examination, and may perform additional tests. Following this, they will discuss both surgical and non-surgical treatment options for your condition. Together, you will decide on the best course of action.
How Long Is An Initial Appointment?
Please allow 30 – 45 minutes.
