FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

To receive treatment as a public patient, your GP must refer you directly to the Orthopaedic Outpatient Clinic at a public hospital. Please note that having a private consultation with Dr Tudor will not shorten your waiting time for a public hospital appointment.

Surgery is typically scheduled within 1–6 weeks after your consultation, depending on:

  • the type and complexity of your procedure
  • operating theatre availability
  • whether any specialised planning or equipment needs to be organised

Our team will discuss timing options with you and aim to accommodate your preferences wherever possible.

Please bring the following:

  • Your GP referral
  • Medicare card
  • Private health fund card (if applicable)
  • Any relevant imaging or previous medical reports (we can access most imaging via the internet)

Having these details helps us provide an accurate and efficient assessment.

Yes. A valid GP referral is required to claim a Medicare rebate for part of your consultation fee. Your referral is also necessary for your private health fund to cover hospitalisation costs if surgery is needed.

It’s best to discuss your condition with your GP before booking your appointment. They can ensure you’ve had any relevant diagnostic imaging (such as an X-ray, CT scan, MRI, or ultrasound) completed beforehand, helping Dr Tudor make a more accurate assessment.

At your initial consultation, Dr Francois Tudor will:

  • Go through your medical history with you
  • Conduct a physical examination
  • Review your imaging
  • Organise any additional tests or scans as required

Following this, Dr Tudor will explain both surgical and non-surgical treatment options and work with you to determine the best management plan for your condition.

Please allow 30–45 minutes for your first appointment.

Fees are subject to change. Please contact our team for current rates.

No. Private health funds do not provide rebates for outpatient consultations. However, you can claim a Medicare rebate for a portion of your consultation fee if you have a valid referral.

If you are privately insured, your out-of-pocket costs will depend on the type and complexity of your surgery. After your consultation, Dr Tudor will provide you with the relevant item numbers, and the SEQSEM team will prepare a detailed surgical quote outlining any potential expenses.
